Pichhwai paintings are integral to the worship of Krishna as Shrinathji. At the Nathdwara Temple, the principal shrine for adherents of the Pushti Marg, these painted textiles form the backdrop of the idol. They are changed periodically, in keeping with different festivals and seasons, and depict episodes from Krishna’s life.
