Traditional Persian Blue Kashan Kashmir Silk Hand-Knotted Carpet

Two Srinagar weavers spend six to seven months hand-knotting this blue silk carpet at 576 knots to the square inch. They place a gold-and-rust teardrop medallion at the centre, surround it with fine vines and palmettes, and finish the field with a rust border and ivory floral guard. There is something jewel-like about blue, gold and rust under lamplight. Rosewood and ivory upholstery suit it well.
