Traditional Kazak Tribal Red Agra Wool Hand-Knotted Runner

Rectilinear hook-and-cross motifs, drawn the way Central Asian tribal weavers draw them, run in tight rows across a red field on this runner, broken by two narrow navy bands filled with small triangular bird shapes. A wide ivory border, patterned with its own repeating tribal medallions, frames the whole piece like a second rug wrapped around the first. An Agra weaver hand-knots the wool densely enough to keep every angle sharp at this small a scale. There is something graphic about a red this rectilinear, every line straight and every angle sharp.
