Thewa Rakhi

Pearls trace the edge of this pendant, framing a round centre of gold filigree set over deep maroon glass. Thewa work made this possible, a technique of pressing gold leaf into glass until you can no longer tell where the metal ends and the colour begins, upheld today by only a handful of master artisans. Strung on a matching maroon cord, it ties onto the same wrist it always has, no explanation ever needed.
