Description

A weaver works jute and wool into this red dhurrie, using an iron-toothed panja to pack the weft into a flat, firm surface. Hooked wing-like emblems in charcoal, ivory and ochre are arranged in horizontal bands, with an undyed fringe at both ends. There is something grounding about red framed by dark geometry. Terracotta flooring, brass, dark timber and woven cane suit it well.
