Glass-finished Bell Metal Dinner Bowl

The craft of Kansa, from the Odishan state of Kantilo, involves the hand beating and shaping of bell metal into beautifully textured forms like this glass-finished dinner bowl. Producing a sonorous and rhythmic quality, objects are uniquely made under extreme levels of heat such that they are devoid of malleability, ductility and elasticity. Highly esteemed in Ayurvedic practices, eating and drinking in kansa is known to enhance gut health amongst other benefits.
